Description
Nature’s Light is an exploration of the interplay of the natural with the man made. The urban landscape becomes cinematic when it’s lit by the world’s best designer, Mother Nature.
Peter will be in the gallery for the opening to discuss his inspiration and process. Please join us for a glass of fizz and a chat about the exhibition.
In his own words: “I’m an Edinburgh born digital photographer and artist specialising in creating dramatic images of the every day. My influences range from art history to comic book and cinematic references where I aim to illustrate the beauty and drama of the everyday whilst letting the viewer form an attachment to the subject on an emotional or nostalgic level. I use mobile technology to capture, edit and publish new work on social media and personal websites. Selected works are reproduced in photo and giclée print formats the largest to date was 5.5 feet wide by 2.5 feet tall.”
“In the 1990s I attended Edinburgh’s Telford College where I studied art and design and completed HND Units in Design and Typography for print including photography, typographic magazine layout and advertising. During this time I discovered photography, however it was the advent of accessible digital photography and mobile post processing in the early 2000s that I really connected with. I taught myself Adobe Photoshop during this time and by 2008 was producing work that wasn’t pure photography or deemed a traditional art form. I persevered, honed my editing skills to produce more work. In 2014 I applied and was accepted into Open Studios North Fife bringing a new audience to my work and showing that there was a place for creative photo editing in the local art scene. The work was well received and I’ve been a participating artist ever since. In 2020 I joined the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA) and in 2021 the work “Ray of Sunshine” was accepted into the online exhibition “Contemporary Figures”.
In 2022 I moved back to Edinburgh and started looking for exhibition space for old work and opportunities to create and exhibit new single edition work. And here we are!”
The exhibition runs until Saturday May 18.
